What Are Possessive Adjectives?
Possessive adjectives show who owns or has something. In French, these words change depending on the noun they describe.
Why Are They Important?
They help us say things like 'my book' or 'your pen' in French. Using the correct form is key to speaking clearly.

Plural Noun
je: mon (m), ma (f), mes (pl) tu: ton (m), ta (f), tes (pl) il/elle: son (m), sa (f), ses (pl) nous: notre (m/f), nos (pl) vous: votre (m/f), vos (pl) ils/elles: leur (m/f), leurs (pl)
Singular Noun
For all persons, use 'mes', 'tes', 'ses', 'nos', 'vos', 'leurs' with plural nouns.
Key Rule: Agreement
The possessive adjective matches the number and gender of the noun, NOT the person who owns it.
What Does Agreement Mean?
If the noun is feminine, use 'ma', 'ta', 'sa'. If the noun is masculine, use 'mon', 'ton', 'son'. Always check the noun!
Examples (Singular)

More Example Sentences
"Notre professeur est sympa." (Our teacher is nice.) "Leur maison est grande." (Their house is big.) "Votre chat est mignon." (Your cat is cute.)
Special Case: Vowel Start
Use 'mon', 'ton' or 'son' before a feminine noun starting with a vowel or silent 'h'. E.g., 'mon amie' (my [female] friend) NOT 'ma amie'.
Why This Special Case?
This helps with pronunciation by avoiding two vowel sounds together.
