Oxford university is also known as the oldest university in the English-speaking world.

Education in Oxford
Teaching already took place at Oxford University in some form in 1096. In 1167, the university was finally actually founded.
In 1920, not only men, but also women were admitted to full membership of the University. The first all-male colleges admitted women in 1974. St Hilda's College was the last to admit both men and women, which they did in 2008.
