Je gebruikt de past continuous als je zegt wat er op een bepaald moment in het verleden aan de gang was of wat je toen aan het doen was.

Tijdens de uitleg:
- Ben je stil

- Steek je je vinger op als je iets wilt zeggen / vragen

My sister was playing the piano.

The children were singing a song.

Je maakt de past continuous met de verleden tijd van to be (was / were) + werkwoord + -ing.

I was talking.

You were walking.

He/she/it was dancing.

We were swimming.

You were listening.

They were singing.
