What is First Aid?

Is there somebody who has already some experience with first aid?

What is First Aid?

First aid is the immediate help given to someone who is injured or suddenly becomes ill before professional medical help arrives. The goal is to preserve life, prevent the condition from getting worse, and promote recovery. It can include simple actions like cleaning and covering a wound, performing CPR, or helping someone who is choking.

What is the correct compression to breath ratio for adult CPR?

1. 15 compressions - 2 breaths
2. 30 compressions - 2 breaths
3. 20 compressions - 5 breaths
4. 10 compressions - 1 breaths

What is the recommended depth of chest compressions for an adult during CPR?

1. 2-3 CM
2. 3-4 CM
3. 5-6 CM
4. 7-8 CM

What should you do first when you find an unresponsive person?

1. Start chest compressions immediately
2. Give 2 rescue breaths
3. Look for a pulse for 30 seconds
4. Check responsiveness and call emergency services

6 steps of CPR

1. Check consciousness: Shake the victim's shoulders and ask, 'Are you okay?'.

2. Call 112: Do this immediately or have someone else call.

3. Check breathing: See if the victim is breathing normally.

4. Start chest compressions: If there is no normal breathing,

 start with 30 chest compressions.

5. Give rescue breaths: Give 2 rescue breaths.

6. Attach an AED: Use an available AED as soon as possible.

What percentage of people can survive a cardiac arrest if an AED is used whitin the first minutes?

AED

An Automated external defibrillator is a portable divece used during cardiac arrest. It checks the heart rhythm and, if needed, delivers an electric shock to help the heart start beating normally again.

Heimlich maneuver

The Heimlich maneuver is used when someone is choking and cannot breathe or speak. You stand behind them, place a fist just above the navel, and give quick inward and upward thrusts until the object is cleared.

Arterial bleeding

An arterial bleeding happens when an artery is damaged. The blood is bright red and spurts with the heartbeat, making it very dangerous. Immediate direct pressure is needed to stop blood loss and save the person’s life.
