Slide 3 - Tekstslide

  • Bloodplasma
  • water
  • proteins
  •  red blood cells, white bloodcells, platelets

Slide 4 - Tekstslide

  • Red blood cells
  • no nucleus
  • haemoglobin: absorb and release oxygen
  • 5 milion in a cubic millimetre

Slide 5 - Tekstslide

  • white blood cell
  • bone marrow
  • nucleus
  • destroy pathogens
  • engulfing
  • pus; death white bloodcells and killed baceteria
  • 7000 in a mm^3

Slide 6 - Tekstslide

Slide 10 - Tekstslide

Today
  • Check together exercise 3 and 6
  • Read 3.2 silent. 5 min.
  • Discuss and draw 3.2: Blood circulation
  •  Check and correct 3.1
  • Make the exercises of 3.2

Slide 11 - Tekstslide

Circulation
The human circulatory system:
 heart + blood vessels

The path taken through the body by the blood is called circulation.

Closed circulatory system: Most blood remains inside the blood vessels during transport

Slide 12 - Tekstslide

Circulation
-Red blood indicates blood
  with a lot of oxygen
-Blue blood indicates blood
  with a lot of carbondioxide

(Not really blue in real life)

Slide 13 - Tekstslide

2 different circulations:
Pulmonary circulation
Right side heart --> lungs --> left side heart

Systemic circulation
Left side heart --> rest of body --> right side heart

Humans have a double circulatory system: blood flows through the heart 2 times per circuit.

Left side
Right side

Slide 14 - Tekstslide

Pulmonary circulation
Right side of the heart pumps blood to the lungs. (Oxygen poor)

Here the blood picks up Oxygen and drops of Carbon dioxide.
--> blood goes to left side of the heart (Oxygen rich)

Right side
Left side

Slide 15 - Tekstslide

Which one picks up Oxygen?
A
White blood cells
B
Red blood cells
C
Platelets

Slide 16 - Quizvraag

What is the pigment called that allows red blood cells to absorb Oxygen?
A
Haemoglobin
B
Thrombosis
C
Fibrinogen
D
Blood plasma

Slide 17 - Quizvraag

Systemic circulation
Left side of the heart pumps blood to every part of your body. (Oxygen rich)

Drops off: oxygen and nutrients to cells

Picks up: Carbon dioxide and other waste products from cells

Blood goes back to right side of the heart (Oxygen poor)

Right side
Left side

Slide 18 - Tekstslide

Which one is the shortest circulation?
A
Pulmonary
B
Systemic

Slide 19 - Quizvraag

Homework
  • chech and correct 3.1
  • Make the exercises of 3.2
timer
10:00

Slide 20 - Tekstslide

The circulatory system:
1. The heart
2. Bloodvessels

Slide 21 - Tekstslide

The heart
- four chambers
- 2 atria
- 2 ventricles

Blood always enters the heart via an atrium

Slide 22 - Tekstslide

How many chambers does the heart have?
A
2
B
4
C
6
D
8

Slide 23 - Quizvraag

This type of muscle makes your heart pump.
A
smooth muscles
B
voluntary muscles
C
involuntary muscles
D
cardiac muscles

Slide 24 - Quizvraag

left = right
Yes, in the picture the left side is blue - this indicates oxigen poor blood, but actually it is the right side of the heart
We always see the heart from the front, but we consider it our own heart.
When I raise my right hand, you will not say that it is my left hand...

Slide 25 - Tekstslide

Pictures of the heart look like this. But... how to look at it?
A
The right side on the picture is also the right side in the body
B
The right side on the picture is the left side in the body

Slide 26 - Quizvraag

Bloodflow
Bloodflow in the heart is a
one-way street.
It follows the direction of the arrows

Slide 27 - Tekstslide

When blood flows back to the heart, where does it go first?
A
into the valves
B
into the atria
C
into the ventricles
D
into the septum

Slide 28 - Quizvraag

Valves
Valves only open in one way,
just like a door, if you push from one side the door opens easily, but if you push from the other side you will push it even closer...

Slide 29 - Tekstslide

one way valve
As you can see, a valve only opens in one direction

Slide 30 - Tekstslide

Which valves are located between the atria and ventricles?
A
Tricuspid valve & bicuspid valve
B
Bicuspid valve & aortic valve
C
aortic valve & pulmonary valve
D
Pulmonary valve & tricuspid valve

Slide 31 - Quizvraag

Pulmonary circulation

To the lungs to pick up oxygen and drop off carbondioxide

Slide 32 - Tekstslide

Systemic circulation
To every part of your body to drop of oxygen and nutrients and pick up carbondioxide and other waste products

Slide 33 - Tekstslide

The heart
-left side pumps oxygen rich
  blood into the systemic
  circulation
-right side pumps oxygen poor
  blood into the pulmonary
  circulation

Slide 34 - Tekstslide

When is blood 'deoxygenated'?
A
When the concentration oxygen is low and the concentration carbon dioxide high
B
When the concentration of oxygen is high and the concentration of carbon dioxide high

Slide 35 - Quizvraag

Through which side of the heart flows oxygenated blood?
A
Right side
B
Left side

Slide 36 - Quizvraag

The heart
- is a double pump
 - left side pumps oxygen rich
    blood (red) towards your
    body
- right side pumps oxygen
   poor blood (blue) towards
   your lungs

Slide 37 - Tekstslide

Describe the pulmonary circulation and the systemic circulation

Slide 38 - Open vraag
