Getting under the skin: PART 1

• Look at the chicken wing and compare it with the figure 
• Find the upper wing, the lower wing and the wingtip.
• Look at the point where the wing used to be attached to the body. You might see cartilage and bone marrow.

Can you point out the biceps and triceps on the chicken wing?

Getting under the skin: PART 2

• Lay your chicken wing so the ''ticker'' side is pointed upwards and  elbow joint is pointing down
• Using the scissors, cut down the middle of the skin, starting at the top end of the upper wing. See cut 1.

What is the goal for today? 

And why would I have you cut it open, what am I expecting you to see?

Getting under the skin: PART 3

• Cut down the sides of the skin to make a T-shaped cut. See cut 2 in the picture
• Fold as much of the skin back as possible so you expose as much of the joint as possible
• Cut more if neseccary make BUT sure to leave some muscles and tendons

ASSIGNMENT

• Make a biological drawing of your dissected chicken wing. Make sure you label the parts you can see. (skin, muscle, tendons & name the bones you can see).
• Don't forget to take pictures for Wolfert Portfolio!

Since a chicken wing doesn't have hands, how can we now tell which bone is the ulna and which one is the radius?

I'm expecting to see at least 6 items on your worksheet. Who can tell me one of the 6? Allright and what else do you see?

CLEAN UP, STEP BY STEP

2. Bring the material to the front
3. Hand in your drawings
4. Clean desk (and own pencils etc.) with hygiene  wipes
5. Remove gloves, the doctor way
6. Remove goggles and labcoats
7. Check if you may leave
