Consultation

At consultation we ask lots of questions to find out lots of things including:

  • Client expectations

  • How they manage their hair at home

  • Factors

  • Any possible contra indications

These questions, along with other things, help us to decide whether the service is achievable.

It is important to balance your clients expectations with salon resources and ability to achieve what they want

What do you think makes a service unachievable?

Prior planning

One way to ensure the service is achievable is through prior planning.

Booking clients in for consultations before the date of their appointment allows you to:

  • Find out what they want done

  • If it is achievable

  • Carry out any tests

  • Make sure you have all tools, equipment and products needed

  • Have enough time to complete

Personal circumstances

Job restrictions

Cost of upkeep

Time restraints on a day to day basis

High maintenance style/colour

Referring clients

If you cannot undertake your clients service yourself, or your salon does not offer the service, you should refer a client to a person or salon that can.
