What are Industries ?
Industry refers to an economic activity that is concerned with production of goods, extraction of minerals or the provision of services. Thus we have Iron and steel Industries, coalmining industry and tourism industry.

Classification of Industries

On the basis of Raw Materials
1) Agro-Based Industries:- These consist of plant and animal based products. For example food processing, vegetable oil & etc.
2)Mineral based Industries :- These are the primary industries that use mineral ores as their raw materials. The products of these industries feed other industries.
3) Marine Based Industries:-  These industries use products from the sca and oceans as raw materials. For example sea foods and fish oil.
4) Forest based Industries :- These industries utilise forest produce as raw materials.

Industrial System
An industrial system consists of inputs, processes and outputs.
Inputs They consist of the raw-materials. For example, cotton, human labour, cost of land & Etc.
Processing It consists of a wide range of activities that change the raw material into finished products. For example, ginning, spinning, weaving & etc.
Outputs Output is the finished product and the income obtained from it.

In Bhopal on 3d December 1984 around 12:30 am it was a technical accident in which highly poisonous methylisocyanate (mic) gas along with hydrogen cyanide and other reaction products leaked out of the pesticide factory of union carbide.
