Take notes
two types of plates
1. Continental plate:  Plate that consists of a large land surface.
2. Oceanic plate: Plate that consists of a large sea surface.

Click on the map, write down one example of each type of plate.

Slide 8 - Tekstslide

Subduction forms volcanoes
Subduction: When the heavy oceanic plate, dives under the light continental plate.

*Subduction happens when a continental and oceanic plate are in a convergent movement.

Slide 9 - Tekstslide

Earthquakes are cause by...
1. Convergent movement/Subduction
2. Transform movement

* The movement of the plates is not smooth, a lot of tension (spanning) is built up between the plates. When the pressure (druk) is too high, the plates snap loose (schieten los) which creates the shock.
