“The next time you buy an apartment in the city, you might also be buying a home for a poor person in the undeveloped world”. Explain in three or four English sentences how that could work.

Developers who take part in the project donate money when they sell an apartment. The idea is that with that money a cheap shelter is built for poor people somewhere in the world. So if you buy an apartment you provide a shelter for someone else indirectly.

The main contrast is between the extreme luxury of the villa and the poverty of people who live on a landfill. For the price of the villa 14.266 shelters could be built for the poor.

b Compare the use of adjectives in
the two texts. What strikes you?

The first text has a lot more adjectives than the second. Also they are mainly positive in the first text.

c Why is that the case?

The first text is an advertisement and the text has to put forward as many positive points as possible. The second text is reporting and is therefore more neutral.
