Slide 1 - Tekstslide

Hurricanes!
Hurricanes are natural disasters that occur.  They can be devastating, bringing high winds, rain, storm surge, and sometimes even tornadoes. Storm Surge causes flooding issues along the coast with the high waves that come upon the land.

Slide 2 - Tekstslide

Storm Surge is a major threat to many cities along the coast.

Slide 3 - Tekstslide

Hurricanes form when warm moist air rises over warm water and is then replaced by cold air. This continues resulting in ominous clouds and thunderstorms developing, and with enough wind speeds, it will become a hurricane.

Most Hurricanes are ranked in categories. These Categories range from 1-5.

Slide 6 - Tekstslide

 Category 1

Category 1 hurricanes have wind speeds between 74 - 95 mph.

Slide 7 - Tekstslide

Category 2

Category 2 hurricanes have wind speeds between 96-110mph.

Slide 8 - Tekstslide

Category 3
For a hurricane to be classified as a Category 3 hurricane it must have sustained winds speeds between 111-129mph. Hurricanes with these speeds are classified as major hurricanes.

Slide 9 - Tekstslide

Category 4

Category 4 hurricanes must have wind speeds that range from 130-156 mph. Category 4 hurricanes are classified as major hurricanes.

Slide 10 - Tekstslide

Category 5
Category 5 hurricanes are the highest category that a hurricane can be with wind speeds that are 157 mph or higher. These are most definitely classified as major hurricanes.
