  • your interests in general

Like
Would like
Would like: to want / to approve of something

We use 'would like to' to talk about:
  • what you want to do
  • to make invitations
  • to make offers & polite  requests

Telephone Language


  • To identify the caller we can say:
May I ask who's calling?
  • To ask the name again we can say:
I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name. 
  • To ask the caller to wait we can say:
Just a moment, please / One moment, please.
  • To give a reason for absence we can say:
I'm sorry, but (name) is in a meeting/ at lunch.
  • To leave a message we can say:
Can I take a message?
