What Is a Community?

A community is a group of people living together who help each other and share interests. Examples: school, neighbourhood, or country.

Key Community Words

Shelter: a place to live. Institution: an important place, like a hospital or school. Traditional: old and cultural. Modern: new and up-to-date.

Needs and Wants

Wants

Things we must have to live (food, shelter, water, clothing).

Things we would like but can live without (toys, games, sweets).
