How does digital technology impact knowledge?

We started the year looking at knowers & knowing, so with that in mind, be the knower:  how do you know the benefits or drawbacks of what technology is doing for knowledge?

You will first need to define the list of what, and then, RLE, along with the how. Be critical. Think it through.  Can you come up with 5 ideas?

Technology in itself, is not democratic.

Technology has the power influences a negative impact on my critical thinking skills.

Technology means we, as humans, will live longer.  Do we want to?

Technology is in the hands of a few, the audience is the masses.

Technology has the power to corrupt democracy.

Algorithms that learn
Collecting of personal biometric data including medical records, genome and facial recognition
The more or less permanent nature of an individual’s digital footprint
The pitfalls of easy access to online pornography

Privacy issues associated with apps like Siri and GPS tracking

Block chain technology & cryptography

Consider this:

Should we hold people responsible for the applications of technologies they develop/create?
