Indirect Speech

Je gebruikt de indirecte rede wanneer je wilt vertellen wat iemand anders heeft gezegd. 

Bij de indirecte rede kun je het woord that gebruiken, maar ook weglaten.

Jim's mother: 'Jim isn't at home.'

Indirect speech: Jim's mother said (that) Jim wasn't at home.

Indirect Speech

Trish: 'We don't like shopping

Indirect speech: Thrish said (that) they didn't like shopping.

present simple → past simple

persoonlijk voornaamwoord veranderd

Indirect Speech

Shane: 'My father and I will do it right now.'

Indirect speech: Shane said (that) his father and he would do it straight away.

present simple → past simple

bezittelijk en persoonlijk  voornaamwoord en tijdsaanduiding veranderen.

Indirect Speech

Bij indirecte rede ga je altijd een stapje terug in de tijd.

present simple → past simple

Anqi: 'I always keep my promise'  → Anqi said she always kept her promise.

present continuous →  past continuous

Bernice: I'm reading a good book' →  Bernice said she was reading a good book.

past simple →  past perfect

Hamza: 'I watched a great film yesterday' → Hamza said he had watched a great film yesterday.
