Slide 1 - Tekstslide

Create a game concept pitch. I want your notes here. Some of you will pitch to the group. You have 5 mins. (NO established franchise use - must be original)

Slide 2 - Open vraag

PITCH YOUR GAME

Slide 3 - Tekstslide

What problems did you have?

Slide 4 - Woordweb

Breaking it down
With any large problem you face it is hard to tackle it face on.
One approach is to break the big problem in to several smaller ones
Each of these is easier to tackle and will lead to solving the bigger problem
In computing we call this DECOMPOSITION

Slide 5 - Tekstslide

Via Word (link):

Slide 7 - Tekstslide

Questions to Consider
  1. What is the game about?
  2. Who is the audience?
  3. Is there a market for it? What’s the competition like?
  4. Which platform will it be published on?
  5. How will it be monetized? Will it be sold on a platform, or free to play with in-game purchases?
  6. How long will it take to develop?
  7. What staff and resources will it require?
  8. What is the estimated budget?

Slide 8 - Tekstslide

Ranking importance
Some things are more important than others
Number your list of questions in order of rank
1 = most important and so on

RANK your questions now

Slide 9 - Tekstslide

Compare
Compare your ranking with a peer next to you
Are there any differences?
Who is right?

Slide 10 - Tekstslide

What is important?
Simply put - some stuff is more important to keep and include
Some stuff we can ignore

This is known as Abstraction in Computer Science
  • Simplifying a problem by removing the unnecessary elements and focusing on what is important.

Slide 11 - Tekstslide

An everyday application
Lets apply decomposition and abstraction to an everyday issue
A family deciding to go to the cinema and watch a film together.

Slide 12 - Tekstslide

So What is Important?
There will be many opinions on this one but here is one
