CVA: cerebral vasculair accident / stroke --> bloodsupply to the brain is reduced

Hemorrhagic stroke: bloodvessels break open --> bloodsupply to the brain is reduced ​

Ischemic stroke --> bloodsupply to the brain is blocked

The right cerebrum controls muscles on the .... side of the body

Stroke signs

- Facial paralysis​

- Arm weakness​

- Speach (dysphasia = difficulty speaking)​

Left-sided stroke

- Paralysis of the right body side

- Spasticity

- Hemianopsia = loss of visual field on the right side of both eyes

- Aphasia = difficulty with language 

- Dysarthria = slurred speech 

- Neglecting people or things (right side)

- Slow and uncertain behavior

- QOL

- Social life

Right-sided stroke

- Paralysis of the left body side

- Spasticity --> mobility problems 

- Hemianopsia = loss of visual field on the left side of both eyes

- Dysarthria = slurred speech
- Neglecting people or things (left side)

- Problems with spatial perception

- Disturbances in perception and thinking --> cause problems in understanding, seeing, feeling, speaking, making plans, reading, calculating, solving puzzles, expressing emotions and behavior
