Adjective / adverb
An adjective (bijvoeglijk naamwoord)
says something about a person/thing
for example: A beautiful house

An adverb (bijwoord)
says something about a verb, or another adverb or an adjective
For example: She sings beautifully

bad - badly
slow - slowly

Irregular adverbs

good - well
fast - fast
hard - hard (=hard)
hard - hardly (=nauwelijks)
daily - daily

How do you make a regular adverb?
1. You add - ly
wonderful - wonderfully
2. If the word ends on a -y, eliminate the -y and add -ily
easy - easily
3. If the word ends on -le, eliminate the -le and add -ly
terrible - terribly
4. If the word ends with -ic, add -ally
ironic - ironically
