Form

Conditional clause = bijzin van voorwaarde

Main clause = hoofdzin.

He would be on time if he ran / If he ran, he would be on time.

Two parts

1. If sentence (If he ran,) = voorwaarde in bijzin
   
2. Main sentence (he would be on time)

• What happens if you heat ice? It melts.
• If you heat ice, it melts
  
• 0 conditional (facts)
• I didn't study for the tests, my grades are bad.
• If I had studied for the tests, I wouldn't have had bad grades.
• 3rd conditional (impossible past)
