Water boils at 100 degrees. 

PE starts in ten minutes. 

Why are you laughing? Keep quiet. The baby is sleeping.

Gebruik: 

- Als iets vaak, altijd of nooit gebeurt. (always, never, often)
- Aangeven gewoonte en/of feit. 

- Toekomst - dienstregeling, rooster, reisschema

- Werkwoorden die gemoedstoestand aanduiden krijgen meestal de present simple (believe, contain, agree, hate, know, like, love, etc).

Hoe maak je de present simple?

She loves chocolate. 

Vragen en ontkenning met een vorm van 'to do': 
Does he play tennis? 
I don't know him.

Gebruik: 

- Wanneer iets/iemand tijdelijk ergens mee bezig is. In NL zeg je vaak 'aan het', 'zitten te' of 'staan te'.   
- Als iemand langdurig in bepaald proces verwikkeld is.  

- Duidelijk te maken dat je geïrriteerd bent. Vaak met woorden als always, constantly, forever. 

- Voor plannen/afspraken in de nabije toekomst die als vastliggen.

Hoe maak je de present continuous? 

 
vorm van to be (am/is/are)  + hele ww. op -ing

Ze spreekt me voortdurend tegen. Het is zo vervelend.

1. She forever contradicts me. It's so annoying!
2. She is forever contradicting met. It's so annoying!

Hij schrijft elke week een artikel voor The Guardian.

1. He writes an article for The Guardian every week.
2. He is writing an article for The Guardian every week.

Hoe laat vertrekt jullie vlucht?

1. What time does your flight depart?
2. What time is your flight departing?

Zij studeert voor dierenarts.

1. She studies to become a vet.
2. She is studying to become a vet.

De zon komt in het oosten op.

1. The sun rises in the east.
2. The sun is rising in the east.

Hurry up! Our train _____ at 4:47. (to leave)

David __________ to the gym every day. (to go)
