International conflict 
-> between 2 or more states 
* Irak war, 2e WW, Vietnam war

Internal conflict / civil war 
-> usually stay within the borders of a country 
* IRA in Northern Ireland, Farc in Colombia, The American Civil war 

these can end up internationalised

Territory = The land that historically/culturally belongs to a certain people
State = A country with internationally recognised borders. 
A people/ a nation = A group of people that share a common history, religion, and or language. 
Etnicity = Identity of a people
Nation-state =  When  the state and the territory are one

Within a state a minority lives with its own territory
A people has a state but is also present in a number of other countries forming minorities in those other countries
The territory of a people is bigger then the state
A people is spread out over multiple states, being a minority in each of these states
