Direct Object

What is a direct object?

Think of an example sentence.

Direct object + Infinitive (= to + verb)

When expressing some kind of order or wish, you use the infinitive

I would love to go to the moon

Where's the "to"?

When using the verb let or make, or verbs describing a sense (smell, hear, feel), we omit the "to":

She saw the magician perform a miracle.

Let me tell you about the time I was a pilot on a spaceship.

We call these bare infinitives (because they miss the "to").

Writing exercise 7: Write an email to your friend, who wants to know what you think of his plan to go storm chasing.

• give advice
• state your opinion (and explain)
• use at least three of the following: 

veteran - cautious - menacing - recreational - stunning

Exchange Letters

With your neighbour, exchange your letters. 

Check their work: proper grammar, word use, tone.

Check for the words (veteran - cautious - menacing - recreational - stunning) and see if there are other more difficult words (vocab)

Write in pencil, if you can.
