'Used to'

Slide 1 - Tekstslide

Used to + infinitive
1. to talk about past states that are no longer true
2. to talk about regular past actions that don't happen any more

 - It always refers to past time!!
- you don't use it to talk about past actions that happened only once. Then you use the PAST SIMPLE!!

Used to vs. Simple Past

Used to is preferred when emphasizing these forms of past repetition in positive sentences.
On the other hand, when asking questions or making negative sentences, simple past is preferred.
