General data protection regulations (GDPR)
All personal data on clients must be stored correctly, otherwise businesses face a fine under the General data protection regulations (GDPR)
 

Record cards must be locked away at all times and personal information must never be given out to anyone.

If a client requests to see their record card, you must show them. The information stored on it is theirs so must not be withheld.
When removing old record cards, they must be destroyed correctly either by shredding or incineration.

THE SALE AND SUPPLY OF GOODS ACT 1994
When you go shopping, anything you buy is covered by the Sale of Good Act 1979. This means that when you buy a product it should be:

1982
This act requires traders to provide services to a proper standard of workmanship. 
It also stipulates that the materials used or goods supplied must be of satisfactory quality.

Failure to meet these obligations is a breach of contract and could lead to legal action.

THE TRADE DESCRIPTIONS ACT 1972
This Act prevents sellers from misleading their customers as to what they are spending their money on.

It is an offence for a trader to quote false or misleading statements about goods and services. This means when you are making a purchase, the item should do what it says it does.
