Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson you will understand the purpose and targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations. At the end of the lesson you will be able to identify actions that can contribute to achieving each of the 17 SDGs. At the end of the lesson you will recognize the importance of partnerships and global cooperation in accomplishing the SDGs. At the end of the lesson you will be aware of the challenges and statistics related to poverty, hunger, health, education, gender equality, clean water, clean energy, economic growth, infrastructure, inequalities, sustainable communities, responsible consumption, climate action, marine life, terrestrial ecosystems, peace and justice, and global partnerships.

Poverty: the state of being extremely poor, Malnutrition: lack of proper nutrition caused by not having enough food or not eating enough healthy food, Sustainability: the ability to be maintained at a certain rate or level, especially without depleting natural resources, Gender Equality: the state of equal ease of access to resources and opportunities regardless of gender, Sanitation: conditions relating to public health, especially the provision of clean drinking water and adequate sewage disposal, Renewable Energy: energy from a source that is not depleted when used, such as wind or solar power, Economic Growth: an increase in the amount of goods and services produced per head of the population over a period of time, Infrastructure: the basic physical and organizational structures and facilities needed for the operation of a society or enterprise, Inequality: the state of not being equal, especially in status, rights, and opportunities, Climate Change: a change in global or regional climate patterns, attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels, Biodiversity: the variety of life in the world or in a particular habitat or ecosystem, Peace and Justice: conditions in which people are able to coexist in harmony and with fair treatment and equality under the law
