The question should ignite a debate. It must be answered with yes or no and therefore preferably start with: 

should, can, or to be.

Finding inspiration for your topic

• Is the use of violence allowed when protesting?
• Should the mandatory school age be lowered from 5 to 4 years old?
• Should mobile phones be banned from secondary schools?
• Should the environment be protected against tourism?
• Should schools be allowed to refuse unvaccinated children? 
• Should surrogacy be limited/banned?
• Should education levels no longer be labelled 'high' or 'low'.
• Should drugs be legalized?
• Etc.

Theme introduction: explain the debate which you will focus on (and which will provide you with an answer to your research question), the range of the debate and, if needed, introduce and clarify relevant concepts.

Theme conclusion: synthesize the perspectives and draw a sustained interim conclusion.

Identify evidence for the different perspectives (reference!), assess validity, weigh evidence and arguments to produce a well- supported judgement.

The perspectives that you chose should be conflicting.

Writing-approach

The report is your account. You are the director of the report, not a mere spokesperson of the sources. You decide which controversial debate is outlined and how. So you draw the image of the perspectives and use your sources explicitly to support your account. DO NOT merely provide a summary of your sources. 

Your report is a testimony of an academic, objective search for information lead by valid sources.

Show that you understand well what the sources communicate and paraphrase important arguments (well-referenced!). DO NOT use direct quotes from your sources, opt for paraphrasing instead. 

Register: Formal!

Avoid contracted forms

Avoid using slang, idioms, hyperboles and clichés

Avoid a variety of pronouns 

Remember to use capitals when needed!!!!!
