Present Simple

• Used to state universal, timeless truths (always / never)
• For example, The sun always rises in the east
• Used to  indicate habits  (every Sunday/week/month)
• For example, We go to church every Sunday.

Present simple:

Wat is de regel van de present simple?

1. ww + -ed
2. stam (bij I, you, we, they) stam + s (bij he, she, it)
3. vorm van to be + ww + -ing

Choose the correct answer. What sentence uses the Present Simple?

1. He travels to work four times a week.
2. He travelled to work four times a week.
3. He is travelling to work.
4. He has travelled to work.

Present Continuous:
Pick the example of the present continuous.

1. He was working late.
2. He is working late.
3. He worked late.
4. He has worked late.

Present Continuous

• Used for things that are happening at the moment of speaking
• For example, I am teaching the students in the classroom.
• Used for temporary or new habits (longer period of time = present simple)
• He's eating a lot these days
•  Definite future arrangements (= you have a plan and are sure that it will happen)
• For example, I'm leaving at three. 

Present Perfect 

• A state of affairs is described as being relative to the present time
• In other words, something that started in the past but is still relevant in the present
• For example, I have lived in the Netherlands for over thirty-five years.
• Look whether you can use the word 'al' in your translation.
• For example, Ik woon al meer dan vijfendertig jaar in Nederlands. 

Present Perfect:

Wat is de regel qua spelling van de present perfect?

1. ww+ - ed
2. shit = ww+-s
3. vorm van to be + ww+-ing
4. have/has + voltooid deelwoord (3e rijtje)

PRESENT PERFECT:
in welke zin wordt de present perfect gebruikt?

1. She had been working until late.
2. She have been working until late.
3. She has worked until late.
4. She has been working until late.

Present Perfect Continuous

• Is used to show that an action started in the past and has continued up to the present moment.
• For example, James has been teaching at the university since June
• The words 'recently' and 'lately' also indicate the verb tense present perfect continuous
• For example, She has been watching too much television lately.

Hoe maak je de Present Perfect Continuous?

1. have/has+ voltooid deelwoord
2. have/has + been + werkwoord+ing
3. werkwoord + ing
4. werkwoord + ed

She..... six countries so far.

De Present Perfect Continuous gebruik je voor:

1. Verleden gebeurd, resultaat is zichtbaar
2. Verleden gebeurd, resultaat is niet zichtbaar
3. Verleden gebeurd, nog steeds bezig
4. Verleden begonnen, niet meer bezig.

Past Simple

• Is used to show that a completed action took place at a specific time in the past
• For example, I walked to school yesterday. 
• I finished work, walked to the beach, and found a nice place to swim.
• Regular verbs: [verb] + [ed]
• Irregular verbs: study! You can find a list in Google Classroom.

Past Continuous

• Is used to show that an ongoing past action was happening at a specific moment of interruption
• Or, that two ongoing actions were happening at the same time
  
• For example, While John was sleeping last night, someone stole his car.

Past Perfect

• Is used to show that an action took place once or many times before another point in the past
• For example, she only understood the movie because she had read the book.

4. had + volt.deelwoord
