Homosapiens

• Homosapiens roughly translates to wise man
• They are the most modern human (we are homosapiens)
• First showed up about 200,000 years ago 

Fossils 

• Are the remains of living things from millions of years ago 
• Are things like bones and teeth 
• Fossils can tell us many things about the past 
• Lets look at some fossils  

Artifacts 

• A man made object like a tool 
• These objects are the best clues to understanding ancient people
• lets look at some artifacts 

Archeologist 

• Archeologists have an important Job in history:
• They search for, find and then interpret, fossils, and artifacts 
• Archeologists can tell how old something is based on how deep it is buried   

Africa 

• Africa is one of the most important places on earth when it comes to understanding early man  
• Read about Africa on page 13 of your textbook.
