Describe what is a protractor

Slide 5 - Woordweb

Measuring Angles With A Protractor
A protractor is a simple device which is traditionally in a shape of a semi circular disc and can measure any angle between 0 and 180 degrees.

Slide 6 - Tekstslide

Measuring Angles With A Protractor
In order to make it easier to use, it contains two scales. One reads angles with respect to a clockwise direction. The other scale reads with respect to an anticlockwise direction.

How To Measure An Angle Using A Protractor
The following key points to measuring this angle are:
•  Place the centre of protractor at the point
where the two lines join together

•  Place the zero line on one of the lines
   making the angle

•  Use the inner scale and read where the
   second line meets the scale

Slide 14 - Tekstslide

Example 1

•  Place the centre of protractor at the point
where the two lines join together

•  Place the zero line on one of the lines
   making the angle

•  Use the outer scale and read where the
   second line meets the scale

Example 1
. Place the centre of protractor at the point
where the two lines join together

•  Place the zero line on one of the lines
   making the angle

•  Use the outer scale and read where the
   second line meets the scale

                120 degrees anticlockwise

Slide 16 - Tekstslide

Example 2
.  Place the centre of protractor at the point

Example 2
.  Place the centre of protractor at the point
where the two lines join together

•  Place the zero line on one of the lines
   making the angle

•  Use the inner scale and read where the
   second line meets the scale

                    80 degrees clockwise

Do You Understand how to use a protractor to measure an angle?
I understand the method used to measure an angle including using the correct scale.
I know how to set up the protractor but do not know which scale to use.
I am not sure what is clockwise and what is anticlockwise
I am not sure how to read the different scales
I do not know how to get started.
