Preparing for the presentation 

Groups of five

Two people: are for the statement and defend the statement with reasonable arguments

Two people are against the statement and defend their opinion with reasonable statements

One person is responsible for leading the discussion 

Choose one of these statements:

• There should be taxes on fastfood 
• Parents who give their children under 18 alcohol should get a fine (boete) 
• Schools should block websites which allow acces to videogames
• Cars that drive on gasoline should be banned 
• Parents should be held responsible if their child is a bully

In your debate

You include 2 arguments from both sides, you explain if you agree/disagree and why. 

The discussion leader should give a small introduction to the topic, keep the peace and end the debate. 

A debate has rules: You don't interrupt eachother, you treat eachother with respect. 
Cursewords or street language is not allowed. 

Steps to follow:

1. Choose a statement to discuss

2. Divide the different roles 

3. Find information about your topic to form your arguments

4. Practice
