  demand for spices from Asia
  grew.

                                                                 The first people who started to                                                                       travel were the missionaries:                                                                      priests to spread Christianity.

Causes for the voyages of discovery

• Economical:  products made a lot of profit!
  
• Religion: spreading Christianity
  
• Politics: Kings wanted a larger, overseas Empire
  
• Tools: because of new inventions travel became easier
  
• Knowledge: New maps, crusades en writings from the antiquity made knowledge grew.
