If we compare two things we call that a comparison
For adjectives with one syllable, we add -er and than

Small - Smaller -  I am smaller than your are
Tall - Taller - Marloes is taller than Jilles
Sweet- Sweeter- The Chardonnay is sweeter than 
the Sauvignon blanc
Big - Bigger - That glass is bigger than this glass

Comparison
Adjectives with two or more syllables we use more/less

beautiful - more beautiful
Cinderella is more beautiful than Rapunzel

expensive - less expensive 
This wine is less expensive than this beer

When things have the same quality we use
as + adjective + as

Your rabbit is as big as my dog.

The French wine is as dry as the Italian wine

Superlative
If we compare more than two things 
we add - est for adjectives with one syllable

King Alexander has the smallest house in the world.

That is the largest bottle of Champagne I have ever seen!

expensive - the most expensive

When an adjective end in an y then the spelling changes
dry - drier
