1. Homework check

The teacher will call forward two pupils and they will read the conversation on page 21 aloud.

2. Speaking

Let's talk about what is in your schoolbag.

Take out 5 items which are in your schoolbag. Look at your neighbour. Your items should be different from his/hers.

Now exchange!

Tell each other what you took out of your schoolbag. You use the sentence:

I've got a ......, a ...... etc. in my schoolbag.

Ask your neighbour for his/her items one by one. Use a variety of chunks. Take turns.

CHUNKS to use

Q: I  need a/an ..... . Have you got one?

A: No, sorry. / Yes, of course.

Q: Have you got a/an .... I can borrow?

A: Sure, here you are.

Q: Can you lend me your ........, please?

A: Sure. Here you are.

3. More CHUNKS to practise

Get a paper/worksheet from your teacher's desk. Or your teacher will hand out a paper/worksheet with all kinds of sentences that come from the CHUNKS you've had so far. Can you translate them with your neighbour?

Use your book in case you both don't know. Pages: 10, 12, 18 and 20.

Your best friend can't come to school. He asks you to tell him what happened at school that day. 

You write him an email.

Together with your neighbour you 

have 5 minutes to see which words 

you already know from the word list. 

You ask him about the words in the first row. He asks you about the words in the second row. 

Translate the English words into Dutch words.

Make a family tree of your own family.

You can choose whether you make the family tree paternal (with your father's family) or maternal (with your mother's family).

Tell something about each family member in one sentence! Use the chunks on page 26.

Extra: The pupils can write a sentence about the family members.

1. Homework check!

The teacher needs the help of two pupils.

They turn to page 25 in their books and they stand in front of the class.

One student reads English words and the other students write these words down in ENGLISH. This pupil says: Please write down the next word in ENGLISH.

The other student also reads English words, but now the other students translate the word into Dutch. This pupil says: Please write down the next word in DUTCH.

1. Show your family tree

Take out your family tree.

Tell your neighbour something about each family member! You can use the chunks on page 26.

After 5 minutes your teacher will ask some of you to tell something about your mum/dad/sister/uncle etc.
