If-sentences: 1st conditional

Je gebruikt de first conditional om aan te geven als er aan een bepaalde voorwaarde wordt voldaan, de kans heel groot is dat het gaat gebeuren.

Een if-sentence bestaat uit twee delen:

de if-zin en een de hoofdzin

If-sentences: 1st conditional

Voorbeeld:

If you study hard, you will pass the test.

If you study hard = voorwaarde

you will past the test = waarschijnlijk gevolg

De if-zin staat in de present simple

If you drink your water,

De hoofdzin gebruikt will + hele werkwoord

you will stay hydrated.

Je kunt ook de if-zin en de hoofdzin omdraaien:
