      TEXT 1
She dragged us into the manager's office. He treated us like scum and just kept saying: 'You're going to get locked up for this.' But I couldn't really take it in. I kept thinking, "This isn't happening." We had to sit there until two policemen arrived. Tracey took one look at them and burst into tears and I grabbed Gary's hand. They marched us out of the store and into a police van. Everyone was staring at us - I felt so ashamed.

      TEXT 1
At the station I was locked up in a cell on my own. That was the worst part. I just sat on the floor, feeling al limp and cold. I had no idea what was going to happen to me next. It seemed like years before they let me out and took me into an interview room. A policewoman asked me loads of questions, but I didn't tell her about everything I'd stolen - I was too scared. All I could think of was Mum and what she'd say.

      Slide 7 - Tekstslide

      TEXT 1
As soon as my mum arrived at the police station I burst out crying. She was upset and kept asking why I'd done it. I said sorry a thousand times and we sat hugging for ages.

      TEXT 1
I had to wait a week to see if they were going to prosecute for the jumper and other stuff I'd had on me. I was terrified they'd send me to a children's home but, because it was our first offence and we were both under 16, Tracey and I got a caution (a formal telling off).

      Slide 9 - Tekstslide

      TEXT 1
Mum was really upset. I think she thought she'd been a bad parent. Dad was the angry one. He took the day off work and took me to every shop I'd admitted to stealing from to apologise. It was awful.

      TEXT 1
Mum and Dad thought I needed a fresh start, so I went to live with my dad and his new wife at the end of the summer. It meant starting at another school - I lost touch with Gary and Tracey and I was miserable for ages. I've just begun to make new friends who I feel comfortable with - I don't feel I have to impress them by shoplifting or anything like that.

      Slide 11 - Tekstslide

      TEXT 1
They sometimes ask why I live with my dad and not my mum, but I feel too ashamed to tell them the truth.

I still feel guilty about what I've done - I lost my best friend and my boyfriend and let Mum and Dad down badly. But in a way I'm glad I got caught. Who knows where I'd be now if I hadn't ..
