  • Subject > The boy
  • Verb > ran
  • Object > with the football
  • Manner > quickly
  • Place > down the street

Adverbs of Frequency - Hoe vaak? 

Always, never, often, usually, sometimes: geven aan hoe vaak iets voorkomt.
1. Vóór het hoofdwerkwoord.
  •         He never comes home late 
  •         She always eats apples on Sundays. 
2.  Na een vorm van to be.
  •         I am never anxious.
  •         They were always in the mood for singing.

Adverbs of Frequency - with two verbs
I have always loved playing tennis
I can usually spot a good football player
He has totally forgotten his appiontment
I am absolutely losing this card game

Adverbs can go before the main verb (the first verb is a helping verb = auxilary verb - be, have or modal verb)

Adverbs of Manner
Very, really, hard, fast, slowly, incredibly, terribly: geven aan hoe iets gebeurt.

  1. Vóór het woord waar ze iets van zeggen (bij een bijvoeglijk naamwoord of bijwoord)
       He is very friendly. 
       The car journey was really long.
   2. Over een werkwoord: Op het einde van de zin of vóór het hoofdwerkwoord
       He sang the song terribly.
       . They nervously waited for the President.

Nooit tussen het werkwoord en het voorwerp!  
I grabbed quickly my bag > I quickly grabbed my bag

  • Plaats voor tijd bij het eind van de zin.
      The picnic is in the park at one o'clock.
  • Als het tijdstip extra belangrijk is dan mag tijd ook vooraan.
      Tomorrow, he has to be on time for work!
