present simple ->

Grammar: indirect/reported speech
  • Direct speech = directly stating what someone said. You use quotation marks for this. 
  • Indirect speech = retelling what someone has said. Since the sentences have already been spoken this is often in the past tense. 
  • When changing a sentence from direct to indirect speech, you change the tense and sometimes the pronoun

  • How? shall/will + a form of to be followed by verb+ing
  • Example: My mom will be staying in Paris for 2 months
  • Example: We will be travelling to that event at 2 PM. 
  • When? 1) future events that will be going on for a longer period of time.  2) Future events that will be going on at a specific time.

Future perfect 
  • How? will + have + past participle. Example: will have completed, will have worked
  • When? To talk about something that will be completed before a specific time in the future. 
  • Example sentence: By 2026, the government will have taken measures against climate change.
