What Are Nouns?
Nouns are words that name people, places, things, or animals. Like dog, school, or mom!

Common vs. Proper Nouns
Common nouns are general, like girl. Proper nouns are names, like Emma. Proper nouns start with capital letters!

Singular and Plural Nouns
One cat is singular. More than one cat is plural—cats! Most plurals just add -s or -es.

What Are Verbs?
Verbs are action words. They tell what someone or something does. Like run, jump, or sing.

“To be” means am, is, are. Example: I am happy. She is here. They are friends.
