At the end of this class,

- you know how to form an indirect speech

- you know the different times you can use 

- you know when to use one/ones

Indirect speech

Op de gecoördineerde toets gaan jullie het ook hebben over de indirect speech (in combinatie met de past perfect). 

In het Nederlands noem je het ook wel de 'indirecte reden'.

De ‘indirect speech’ gebruik je om te herhalen wat iemand anders heeft gezegd. 

Indirect speech

Vaak herhaal je in de indirect speech zin:

‘said (that)’

Hoe ziet het er dan uit?

Sam: I’m reading a good book.

Sam said (that) she was reading a good book.

Indirect speech

Zoals je ook in het vorige voorbeeld kon zien, verandert ook het persoons- of bezittelijk voornaamwoord. Dit komt omdat die persoon het niet meer zelf zegt, maar jij het herhaalt.

 

Shane: My father and I will do it right now.

Shane said (that) his father and he would do it right now.

Indirect speech

Zoals je in de vorige voorbeelden kon zien, veranderd ook de tijd wanneer je het in de indirecte reden zet.

Present simple -> past simple

Present continuous -> past continuous

Past simple -> past perfect

Present simple > past simple
Work > ...........

Present continuous > past cont.
I am working > I ...........

Past simple > past perfect
We worked > We ............

Tijden op een rijtje

Present simple = hele ww + s (bij shit-rule)

Past simple = ww+ed (of 2de rijtje onr. ww)

Present continuous = am/are/is + ww + ing

Past continuous = was/were + ww + ing

Past perfect = had + ww+ed (of 3de rijtje onr. ww)

Zet in de indirecte reden:
Alexis: I didn't read the book

1. Alexis said that she didn't read the book
2. Alexis said that she isn't reading the book
3. Alexis said that she hadn't read the book
4. Alexis said that she doesn't read the book

Zet in de indirecte reden:
Sam: I'm reading a good book

1. Sam said that she read a good book
2. Sam said that she has been reading a good book
3. Sam said that she had read a good book
4. Sam said that she was reading a good book

One/ones

A used car is much cheaper than a new one.

Do you prefer the black shoes or the red ones?

Probeer voor jezelf te bedenken, wanneer gebruik je one en wanneer ones? Kijk goed naar de zin. Waar slaan deze woorden op terug? (Dus waar staat ‘one/ones’ voor in die zin?)

Wanneer gebruik je one/ones? Waar kijk je dan naar?

Je gebruikt one wanneer het terug slaat op een enkelvoudig woord en ones wanner het terug slaat op een meervoudig woord. 

Wanneer?

- na een bijvoeglijk naamwoord VB: big problems and small ones

- na which (welke) VB: which ones do you like?

- na this, that, these, those VB: this one

- als zelfstandig naamwoord
