Just a few TIPS for you in the next slide.

Slide 1 - Tekstslide

Math B pupils:
Choose 2 exercises from p.104 and
do all exercises from p.105.
+ §10.6  Mixed exercises is awaiting on you!
+ Make beautiful drawings and constructions, using your compasses too.
+ Do consult the earlier paragraphs and the Solutionsbook too, because
   1st:               the 'B' exercises (42, 43 and 44) are pretty hard, for a part
2nd:            you do not have to know by heart what a 'median' or an 'angle bisector' means.
+ This § will give you an even better idea of what you can expect doing Math B in higher forms!

Slide 2 - Tekstslide

Math A pupils:
Before you do §8.6 yourself ....

+ Let's march through some of the exercises together.
+ You will be asked to work out and answer some of them.
+ After this you will have an easier time, doing it by yourself!

Slide 3 - Tekstslide

In the bar chart you see that:
+ in 2000 there were 15.7 millions of people
+ 7.4 per 100 000 people died in traffic

QUESTION 1 : How many people actually died in 2000?
- Work this out with your Casio and
- Key in in next slide! (no writing needed, now)

Slide 4 - Tekstslide

How many people died in traffic in 2000?

Slide 5 - Woordweb

Answer 1 (1st method):
(1 570 000 : 100 000) x 7.4 = 1162 victims
Explanation:
+we first calculate how many times 100 000 fits in 1 570 000
+ the outcome of this we multiply by 7.4, because
+ for every 100 000 people, 7.4 die in traffic

Slide 6 - Tekstslide

Answer 2(2nd method):
The Solutionsbook is fond of ratio tables. Also very good,
of course, but a little more work. (Now you did not have enough time for it, I guess.)

Slide 8 - Tekstslide

Question 2:
+ Take your calculator and try to
+work out the question below, rounding your final answer to one decimal and
+ filling in your answer in the next slide!
+ of course you can find this task in your book, too, p.30!

Slide 9 - Tekstslide

Doing exercise 38 ....
So use your paper textbook 3B p.30!

Slide 10 - Tekstslide

The mean number of km is ........
A. 16.6 B. 17.6
C. 15.6 D. 14.6
A
16.6
B
17.6
C
15.6
D
14.6

Slide 11 - Quizvraag

Answer 2: (next slides reflect on this!)

Slide 12 - Tekstslide

Was this a hard nut to crack?

Slide 13 - Tekstslide

a few tips for Question 2 / exercise 38:
+ on p.16 the Method is given, how to:
calculate the mean of given data
+ maybe you forgot to use the 'midpoints' of the groups?
+ maybe you rounded to a whole number? So: the answer
'A. 16'  was half good! (But unfortunately no half points are given here...)

Slide 14 - Tekstslide

After all ...
+ having scored more or less points is not of the greatest                    importance
+ what counts more is that by participating you have:
          1. refreshed your memory and/or
          2. learned something new

Slide 15 - Tekstslide

Homework time.
+ After all this preliminary work,
+ doing §8.6 may not be that hard any more!
+ do all exercises; the parts we did together will go easier now!
+ Try hard and, if a problem comes up:
consult the Solutionsbook to see the right direction.
