  • Describe the difference between a surface and penentrating treatment and the effect these have on the hair strucure.

Surface conditioners are everyday conditioners which smooth the cuticle layer.

Penetrating conditioning treatment
  • Deep conditioning treatments
  • Used to repair the cortex (middle layer) of the hair.
  • Needs to be on the hair fro 1-15 minutes - depending on manufactures instructions.

Penetrating conditioning treatment
Set up work area with all tools and equipment. and gown client with correct PPE
Choose suitable products and explain benefits.
Complete consultation - Including all hair tests.
Shampoo and detangle the hair from point to root.
Section the hair into 4 quadrants.
Apply conditioning treatments to mid-length and ends.
Complete petrissage massage.
Develop, rinse and blowdry.
