What does the word radicalisation mean?
Radicalisation
Radicalisation is the process by which someone adopts extreme political, social, or religious beliefs, often rejecting mainstream values in favour of more extreme ideologies.
It’s not just about having strong opinions—it’s about a shift that can lead someone to support or even engage in harmful or violent actions.

Radicalisation:
a process by which an individual or group comes to support
terrorism and forms of extremism leading to acts of terror.
Extremism:
Vocal or active opposition to fundamental British Values.
Terrorism:
Violence/property damage/endanger life/disrupt electronic systems. Designed to intimidate and influence to advance a political, religious, racial or ideological cause.

Incels: An incel is someone who feels unable to have a romantic or sexual relationship and, in some online groups, may express harmful or extreme views about women.
County Lines: In 2023/24, around 14,500 children were identified as at risk of child criminal exploitation – likely an underestimate – with County Lines being the most violent form, closely linked to knife crime and violence against women and girls County Lines Programme data - GOV.UK

Substance misuse or risky behaviours
Unsafe online behaviour (oversharing, sexting, cyberbullying, scams)
