Class system

• Social and financial differences between employers and employees grew.
•  Factory owners became the new rich.

Making a profit

• Factory owners wanted to make the highest possible profit. 
• The used the profit to invest in the company = capitalism.

Factory owners

• Had plenty of food and expensive clothes.
• Employees struggled to survive. 

Socialism

• Idea that the perfect world would be equal.
• The government had to tax the rich and regulate capitalism to ensure equality. 

Trade unions

• Organisations of workers and union leaders with the goal of improving the work situation.
• They often went on strike to get what they wanted. 
• Strike= laying down work as a protest

Social issue

• =The bad working, health and living conditions of workers and their families.
• People felt the need for social laws to protect the working class.
