Today: May 25th = International Children's book day.

Why: it's the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen
Who:  the International Board of Books for Young People
How: each year a different country is responsible. They invite a writer of their country to write a message for children and an illustrator to make a poster.
What else: writing contests, book awards, meetings with writers.

- Today you will be working in groups of 4.
- Each group will do research on special holidays around the world, choose one they like and find out everything about it.
- End of lesson: each group will report back to class about their findings.
- To help you research, you will receive a hand-out with information.

Getting started
  1. Make a group of four
  2. Read through the hand out: one person reads it to the rest of the group.
  3. Start doing research (10 minutes) and choose a holiday.
  4. Find out everything about this holiday (15 minutes).
  5. Report back to class about your chosen holiday.
