RNA - RiboNucleicAcid - Ribonucleïnezuur
RNA is build from  4 different building blocks (nucleotides); A,C,U,G

Every nucleotide is made of
3 parts:
1. phosphate
2. ribose (sugar)
3. nucleic acid
Engels                                  Nederlands

Slide 5 - Slide

nucleotide DNA vs nucleotide RNA
1. phosphate
2. ribose (sugar)
3. nucleic acid U instead of T
1. phosphate
2. desoxyribose (sugar)
3. nucleic acid T

Slide 7 - Slide

Transcription
DNA is strictly rolled up on histons so RNA can not
transcribe the DNA
DNA has loosened up so transcription of the gene can take place

Slide 8 - Slide

Template or matrix DNA is copied to  mRNA

Slide 9 - Slide

Slide 10 - Slide

1. The template or matrix strand of DNA is transcripted by RNA polymerase to one strand of pre mRNA.
2. Introns are cut out and exons are pasted together* (' RNA processing'). 3. The mRNA is transported out of the nucleus towards the ribosomes.
