De present simple = de tegenwoordige tijd
De belangrijkste regel is de SHIT-rule:
Bij She, He en IT komt er een -s achter het werkwoord. 

I work at this school.
Mrs Gielkens works at this school too.

Bij werkwoorden die eindigen op een -y kijk je naar de letter die voor de -y staat:
Play --> He plays football every week.
Enjoy --> She enjoys watching movies.
Marry --> She marries him because she loves him. 
study --> He studies for the testweek every night.

Revision:
Als een woord eindigt op een sisklank (s, sh, ch, x, z) zet je er -es achter:
Miss --> He misses his best friend. 
Match --> This shirt matches my jeans. 
Relax --> After school, he relaxes at home.

Er zijn 2 manieren om vragen te maken:
1. Bij een hulpwerkwoord (auxiliary verb) zet je het werkwoord vooraan in de zin

He is my friend. --> Is he my friend?
I can go to the party. --> Can I go to the party?
There will be a lot of people. --> Will there be a lot of people?

2. Bij alle andere werkwoorden begin je de vraag met Do of Does. Does gebruik je alleen bij She, He en IT (SHIT-rule!) 

 You like watching series. --> Do you like watching series?
He plays football. --> Does he play football?
Suzy hates cooking. --> Does Suzy hate cooking?

2. zonder auxiliary verb

1. Met hulpwerkwoord (auxiliary verb): Zet het woordje not achter het werkwoord. Je mag ook een short form gebruiken.

He is my brother. --> He is not my brother./ He isn't my brother. 
You may borrow my pen. --> You may not borrow my pen.
I will help you. --> I will not help you. / I won't help you.

will not = won't

1. Zonder auxiliary verb: gebruik don't of doesn't + hele w.w.
Doesn't gebruik je alleen bij She, He, It. 

He likes playing games. --> He doesn't like playing games.
They practice every week. --> They don't practice every week.
It works. --> It doesn't work.
