Earth and Space.

What do we see in the sky?

Can we see planets?

We know there are planets beyond ours; we can observe them using telescopes.

Earth and Space.

The Sun is at the centre of our solar system and gives heat and light to our Solar System.

The Sun is a 4.5 billion-year-old yellow dwarf star – a hot glowing ball of hydrogen and helium.

It's about 93 million miles (150 million kilometres) from Earth.

Earth and Space.

8 planets orbit around the Sun.

They are all roughly spherical, which means they are round and similar in shape to a ball.

Some are large, some are small and some have rings around them.

Others may have more than one moon. Each planet is unique.

Earth and Space.

To make it easier to remember the order of the planets, we can make a 'mnemonic’.

This means putting things in a sentence to help us remember things better.

My (Mercury) Very (Venus) Easy (Earth) Method (Mars) Just (Jupiter) Speeds (Saturn) Up (Uranus) Nothing (Neptune).

My, very easy, method, just, speeds, up, nothing.
