In context question: 1
People that are diabetic do not have the ability to make the hormone insulin, this hormone controls the level of sugar in your blood. If you do not have insulin, you need to take it artificially to control your blood sugar levels, if they get too high you could get hyperactive or aggressive, if they go too low you could end up slipping into a coma.

People that are diabetic must keep a very close eye on what they eat and drink, everything must be counted to make sure they use the correct amount of insulin.

This means they also need to avoid foods that have a lot of hidden sugars, what could be meant by this?
