By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:

1. Understand what adverbs are.

2. Be able to use adverbs in a sentence.

Make a sentence using the past simple with the verb 'travel'.

What are adverbs?

Describes a:

- A verb.

- An adjective.

- Another adverb.

- A whole sentence.

Examples of adverbs.

Verb=  Phillip sings loudly in the shower.

My cat waits impatiently for her food.

Adjective= The woman is quite pretty.

The weather report is almost always right.

Adverbs= Phillip sings rather enormously to loudly.

Sentence= Fortunately, we got there in time.

Interestingly, no one at the auction seemed interested in bidding on the antique spoon collection.

Read the poem aloud to a partner with feeling!
