At the start of the year, you receive a Bricks textbook.
This book has a number, and that number is linked to your name.
At the end of the school year, you must hand it in again.
If the book is in bad condition, your parents will have to pay a fine.
You must put a cover on your textbook!
Don't use a cover made out of fabric!
Rules
When the teacher, or a student whose turn it is, is speaking, you should listen and be quiet.
Comment/question/answer: raise your hand and wait for your turn
Ensure you always bring necessary materials and put them on your desk
Leave your desk and the classroom neat and tidy
Use laptops for educational purposes only
Overtreden
1st time: verbal warning
2nd time: Writing assignment (usually copying paragraph from the book)
3rd time: Removal > writing assignment + 45 minutes' detention/chores + email to parents
Writing assignment to be submitted in the next lesson.
incomplete/forgotten = Double the amount for next time, email to parents
still not done > Immediate REMOVAL and detention/chores
Detention/chores: I schedule this in your timetable > will appear on Magister! Usually at the end of a school day
Rewards and punishments
During the lessons you can earn both rewards and punishments during start check, homework check and tidy duty
Rewards
✔ checkmark, collect 3 and these become a +
+ plus, collect 3 and you can exchange them for +0.5 on a biology grade of your choice
C cheat sheet, starts at 2 by 2 cm, then grows by 1 by 1 cm for each C collected, up to a maximum of 5 by 5 cm.
Snitch, Choose a classmate who will also be checked.
Penalties
X cross, collect 3 and these become a catch-up session
Catch-up session, come to do homework one afternoon after school. lasts 45 minutes (or until the task is completed)
CP colouring page, Choose a colouring page, complete the entire task of the page and submit it in the next lesson. Forgetting > 2 X
Lucky!, you're lucky, no penalty
Snitch, Choose a classmate who will also be monitored.
Start check
Each lesson begins with a 5-minute timer
You are late if, by the end of the timer, you do not meet all the following points:
You are in the classroom
You are sitting in the correct place (seating plan)
Your coat and phone are in your locker (not in the classroom)
Shortly before the timer runs out, a start check is conducted with 3 random students.
Start check: Are your book, notebook, and pencil case on your desk? Is your coat in your locker? Are you sitting in the correct place?

Missed a test?
Have you missed a test? Due to illness or other reasons.
The following rules apply:
I usually schedule a session to do the test, often during the 'inhaaluur' on Tuesday afternoon. (this will appear in your timetable!)
If you miss the session without a good reason, you will receive the test unexpectedly during a Biology lesson.
Laptop during lessons
We use the laptop for the following activities:
Participating in Lessonup
Taking part in digital practice tests
Certain assignments
Researching information
(sometimes) Doing tests
If you are caught gaming, watching videos, or doing anything unrelated to the lesson, then immediate laptop ban
Laptop ban: Not allowed to use the laptop for 1 week
(extended by a week each time)
Other matters
Your phone (and coat) is in your locker! If it is visible or there's reasonable suspicion that you have it, it must be handed in and can be collected at the service desk after 16:00.
the 'studiewijzer' on Magister contains lots of handy materials and links. Also, to a site to keep track of your rewards/punishments.
Eating and drinking in class is only allowed with permission.
Questions outside of class > Teams
Only use the toilet at the beginning/end of the lesson.
Classroom with hanging outlets > Only use them if you need to.
